It's official...

The Belmont CSA's first distribution took place last week with locally grown lettuce, arugula, radishes, pac choi, and spinach. The veggies look beautiful. Woodchucks were notably missing from the weekly share.

Barn transformation (well, the area that Gretta uses) is underway and the ideas and enhancements that we discussed toward the end of the season last year are becoming a physical reality, with better ergonomics and other nice touches.

It's been raining straight for several days, so I didn't get to practice my tractor driving skills yesterday (hard to believe, but yes, they do need work), and the weeds have begun to make their presence known. Time to think about some better foul weather wear (or maybe a wet suit).

It was amazing to walk around the fields and see the changes over the past week. The rows of rain-glistening lettuce (including red varieties like Oscarde, Red Cross, and the aptly named Freckles) are AWESOME, and the now-trellised peas (besides having some very pretty foliage) are starting to do their entwine-and-climb thing.
